Jax Cornett
I was born in Denton, Texas but have been a Lafayette, Louisiana local since 2006. I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the spring of 2024 with a concentration in design/technology and focused my studies on costuming, wigs, and makeup. I do, however, enjoy all aspects of behind the scenes in theater and the unique jobs and perspectives that each area gives. I specifically enjoy the paperwork and organization that comes from being a costume shop manager and supervisor of show run crews. I currently work as a visiting instructor of costume technology/costume shop manager for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and have previously worked as a wig and makeup apprentice at The Santa Fe Opera under David Zimmerman, was a wig and makeup apprentice at The Gateway Playhouse in the summer of 2022, and have worked on many productions for UL in positions of cutter/draper, wardrobe head, wig supervisor, and stage manager. Outside of my work in theatre I enjoy learning new facts (especially about sharks), listening to late 70s/80s rock, and reading.
